Terms of Service

1. What Corteks is

Corteks is an app for capturing your own thoughts and having them organised and read back to you. You capture whatever crosses your mind, and the app titles it, files it, connects it to what you have written before, and periodically writes you something about your own thinking.

By using Corteks you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

2. Your account

You need an account. You are responsible for keeping access to it secure, and for what happens under it.

You must be at least 16 years old.

3. Your content belongs to you

Everything you capture is yours. We claim no ownership of your thoughts.

You give us permission to store, process and display that content solely to provide the app to you: to analyse it, organise it, connect it, and generate readings, stories and chat answers from it. That permission exists so the app can function, and for nothing else. It ends when you delete the content or your account.

We do not use your content to train models, and we do not use it to build anything for anyone other than you.

4. What the AI produces, and what it is worth

Corteks uses AI to analyse what you capture and to write readings, stories and answers.

Treat all of it as observation, not advice. It can be wrong. It can miss things, notice things that are not there, and describe you inaccurately. It reads the stream of what you have written down, which is not the same as knowing you.

In particular, Corteks is not a medical, psychological, legal or financial service, and nothing it produces is professional advice. If you are struggling with your mental health, please speak to a qualified person. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency services.

5. What you may not do

We may suspend or close accounts that do these things.

6. Availability

We try to keep Corteks running and to keep your data safe, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Features may change or be removed.

Corteks is young, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. Screens will change and features may be added or withdrawn. We take care with what you capture and back it up, but no service can promise that nothing will ever be lost. If a thought matters enough that losing it would hurt, keep a copy somewhere else too, and note that you can export everything at any time, for free.

7. Price

Corteks is free to download. Capturing beyond the free trial requires Corteks Pro, an auto-renewing subscription.

What it costs. $9.99 per month, or $79.99 per year. Prices are shown in your local currency inside the app before you buy, and those are the ones that apply.

The free trial. Every new account starts with one. Nothing is charged when you sign up, no payment details are taken to begin, and the trial ends on its own without becoming a subscription. You subscribe only if and when you choose to.

How it renews. A subscription is bought inside the app and billed to your Apple ID. It renews automatically for the same period, at the same price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple ID is charged within 24 hours of the renewal.

How to cancel. Open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Corteks. Cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves the rest of the period you have paid for intact. We cannot cancel it for you: Apple owns the billing relationship, not us. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

What happens when it lapses. Capture pauses. Nothing is deleted and nothing is locked away. Everything you have already captured stays readable, searchable and exportable, for free, for as long as your account exists. We do not hold your own thinking hostage to a subscription.

If we change what Corteks Pro costs, we will tell you before it applies to you, and you will be able to decide then.

8. Ending it

You may stop at any time by deleting your account in the app, which deletes your data. See Deleting your Corteks account.

We may end your access if you break these terms, or if we discontinue the service. If we discontinue it, we will give you reasonable notice and a chance to get your content out.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows: Corteks is provided as it is, without warranties. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make based on what the app tells you.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will tell you before it takes effect. Continuing to use Corteks after that means you accept the new version.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the United Arab Emirates, and any dispute arising from them will be dealt with by the courts of Abu Dhabi.
